Anushka was selected by Wendell Rodricks as the final model for his Les Vamps Show, which took place at Lakme Fashion Week in 2017. After her modeling debut during Lakme Fashion Week Anushka did several campaigns for brands like her campaigns for their Silk & Shine Whisper Nathella Jewelry as well as Fiat Palio etc. Anushka Sharma along with her modeling profession, enrolled in an acting academy and began giving auditions to movies. Anushka Sharma was the first actress to film in 2008 with Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. She was in the film with Shah Rukh Khan. Anushka Sharma took one day to practice for her test on screen and refused to perform an impractical version. Later on she was contracted for three movies under the Yash Raj Films banner. The role she played was that of a younger bride to the middle-aged actor (Shah Rukh Khan) in the movie. The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka played Shahid Kapoor Meiyang Chang and Vir Das in the movie Badmash Company. The movie received mixed praises. Anushka was in a movie called Band Baaja Baaraat with Ranveer, where she played an American Punjabi girl from middle-class who starts her wedding planning business. It received positive reviews. Anushka finished her deal of three films together with Yash Raj Films after Band Baaja Baaraat.
